Mike Barnett- Portraits In Fiddles (Deluxe Edition)
Compass Records is issuing a special deluxe edition of Mike Barnett's 2019 GRAMMY-nominated album, PORTRAITS IN FIDDLES, which features five additional unreleased tracks with collaborators, heroes and contemporaries such as Stuart Duncan, David Grisman, Jesse McReynolds, Tim O'Brien, Noam Pikelny, Tony Trischka and more. In his own words: "It was such a joy to work on this project and celebrate some of my biggest musical inspirations, heroes, and mentors. During most of the recording sessions, we recorded one more tune that didn't end up on the record because it would've made for an even more lengthy project. I'm excited to share five more unreleased portraits with you!" PORTRAITS IN FIDDLES (Deluxe Edition) is a guided tour through the best in bluegrass from the unique perspective of someone who lived it from the inside through most of his life, as well as a conversation with his heroes, who speak for themselves musically and in their own words. Barnett reflects on the extraordinary blessings he's had building a career as a premier fiddler in bluegrass music, leading up to his current gig as a member of Kentucky Thunder, the traveling band of bluegrass legend, Ricky Skaggs.
