Bruno Walter- Bruno Walter Conducts Bruckner: Symphonies 4 & 9 (CD)
In much the same way as he championed Mahler, conductor Bruno Walter was a tireless advocate for Bruckner during his American years. This period in his life fell at a time when the quality of the Austrian mystic's works was being called into serious question. Here the listener is privileged to hear two of Walter's earliest Bruckner performances with the NBC Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra, taken from broadcast recordings and reproduced here in the best possible sound.
