This Bongiovanni CD release finally renders justice to a singer forgotten by the recording industry and bereft of the notoriety that a quality career such as his should have afforded him. Piero Visconti was a tenor with everything in place to leave his mark on the opera history of the 1970s, 80s and beyond. Listening to these pieces, all from live recordings, is to discover a lost vocal treasure. After a promising decade his Italian engagements became fewer, making it inexplicably difficult to find his name on Italian playbills of the 90s, which should have been the time of his full artistic maturity.
