the album cover for Augie Meyers - Simply...Augie

In 1964, Augie Meyers had the first Vox organ in the US. He used it to memorable effect as part of the Sir Douglas Quintet's She's About A Mover and thus created the Augie Meyer's sound-instantly identifiable, often imitated but never duplicated. With his Quintet career and later The Texas Tornados, that sound endures along with guest appearances on releases by Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, The Mavericks and countless others. With Simply... Augie, he turns the notion of that sound upside down by deftly playing piano in a fashion he's not previously been associated with. This new album has no drums, no bass, no guitar... but it does have strings and deeply personal songs about love, life and death. At 81, Augie surprises everyone with a new sound.

Tracklist:

  1. I Wonder How Lonely I Would Be
  2. That Lucky Old Sun
