By the late 1970s, it was becoming increasingly rare to find quality blues music in America. Artists like B.B. King and Little Milton had already made their mark, and it was challenging for the next generation of blues musicians to find commercial success in a new and uncertain world. In 1974 however, a change was on the horizon. A Chicago bluesman named Buster Benton, along with his producer Willie Dixon, released their now legendary 45 'Spider in My Stew', shifting the landscape for Buster and the blues, gaining momentum as an artist but also opening the door for other torchbearers to do the same. Included here amongst a sprawling selection of Busters timeless blues repertoire, from the moment you press play on this album you'll know as he did the rocky path to success that a true artist must wander. With his soulful voice and the unmistakable tone of his guitar, Benton effortlessly weaves his tales of love, loss, and heartbreak amidst the struggles of everyday life and showcases his incredible talent and undeniable ability to connect with the listener as he pours his heart and soul into every note.
