A musician, songwriter, arranger and composer for such artists as Johnny Mathis, Gloria Lynne, Dizzy Gillespie and Brook Benton, Chris Towns was also a recording artist in his own right, blessed with a powerfully soulful voice. As a pianist, Towns toured with Jackie Wilson, Etta Jones, Chuck Jackson and performed with Otis Blackwell on original demos of material for Elvis Presley. Towns spent his later years teaching music at Central Harlem's Senior Citizen center, where he received awards for his work with the center's choir. Featured here is an ultra-rare single that clearly demonstrates what a great singer and arranger he was. Originally released in 1962 for the New York City based Decanter label, "So Many Days" b/w "Creation" showcases his golden voice on the pleading A-side ballad, complete with a string section and swelling vocal choir. The B-side also gets the full treatment with strings and vocal choir and carries a uplifting message buoyed by Town's heartfelt reading of the tune. This rare, classic single is presented here lovingly remastered and finally made available in the digital domain.

Tracklist:

  1. So Many Days
