Originally formed in New York in the mid 1960s, The Del-Vons were a immensely talented soul vocal group consisting of Ben Monroe (lead), Fred Paige (first and second tenor), Earl Price (first tenor), Mickey Paige (second tenor), Ray Jackson (baritone), and George Fuller (guitar). Fred Paige had originally sung with the excellent Queens-based vocal group The Chanters, who were signed to Deluxe Records and made their first recordings in 1958. In 1966, Fred later joined The Del-Vons and they recorded their one and only single, "All I Did Was Cry" b/w "Gone Forever," released on the obscure New York City-based Fargo Records subsidiary, Wells Records. The "A" side, "All I Did Was Cry," is a majestic ballad featuring a beautiful vocal arrangement - the flip side, "Gone Forever," is a gorgeous soul ballad backed by a small rhythm section featuring organ and electric guitar. It's hard to believe that this talented group only made one single, but we should be grateful that they left this little gem for all to enjoy. This ultra rare soul beauty has been newly remastered and finally made available in the digital domain.

Tracklist:

  1. All I Did Was Cry
  2. Gone Forever
