Halstenson / Lake Wobegon Brass Band- Remembrances
The Lake Wobegonr Brass Band was founded in the winter of 1992 when Gordy Nilsen, Dave Peterson, and Ric Perkins met at the Anoka Coffee Shop to transform their dream of a British brass band "right here in River City" into a plan. Twenty-six years later, the LWBB has performed over 200 concerts including two state and two national music educator conventions, six international festivals, and three live MPR broadcasts and one national radio live broadcast. The band has made "pilgrimage" tours to Great Britain in 2001, 2005, and 2015, the last of which featured a performance with the world-famous Black Dyke Band, headlining the Gala Concert at the Brighouse Festival of Brass, and participating in the Brighouse March and Hymn Tune Contest. The LWBB has twice commissioned major composer Philip Wilby and hosted him for twelve-day residencies. Remembrances is the band's seventh recording.
