Jacques Loussier spent most of his life studying and admiring the works of Johannes Sebastian Bach. He appreciated During Bach's era it was quite unusual for composers to improvise on other composer's works. The idea of 'Play Bach' was really to carry on this tradition. Loussier appreciated both classical music and modern jazz. He learned forms of interpretation and musical arrangement that were to become a revelation. As a twentieth century composer, Loussier takes the music of Bach and swings it to the spirit of modern jazz. This album is a tercentennial and salute to the birth of Bach. This digital studio recording was made in London, December 1984.
