One of the greatest blues/jazz singers of all time, short and stout Jimmy Rushing attained nationwide prominence beginning in 1936 with the Count Basie band. Rushing will always be remembered as "Mr. 5 x 5, five feet tall by five feet wide," just as the lyric in his signature song describes. Recorded in New York City in December of 1953, the two rare tracks presented here feature Rushing backed by Frank "Floorshow" Culley, an alto and tenor saxophonist active on the R&B circuit in the late 1940's and early 1950's. The main soloist on this session is Culley on tenor sax, joined by his unidentified combo consisting of trumpet, piano, guitar, bass, and drums. Presented here is "Mr. 5x5" paired with "Clothes Pin Blues." Newly remastered.

Tracklist:

  1. Mr. 5 x 5
  2. Clothes Pin Blues
