Along with Johnny Dodd's and Sidney Bechet, Jimmie Noone is regarded as one of the greatest jazz clarinetists of the early part of the 20th Century and was a big influence on later clarinetists Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and others. Trombonist Edward "Kid" Ory led one of the most influential bands to come out of New Orleans and counts Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet among his alumni. From the mid 1940's to the early 1960's, Ory and Noone joined forces to lead one of the top New Orleans style bands of the period and were an important factor in reviving interest in New Orleans jazz. These classic recordings stand as a testament to that era. All selections have been newly re-mastered.
