In 1987, The Mekons recorded their proto-grunge Wst Yorkshire hillbilly classic "Honky Tonkin" accordionist Rico Bel's damp, cramped cellar. To This day it remains steeped in the fetid odors and relentless gloom of the dark, satanic Leeds terrace. 1988's follow-ups SO GOOD IT'S HURTS came from somewhere else altogether; the infectious dance floor BPMs of Brixton and Chapeltown pirate radio sent militants, mutineers and mavericks off in pursuit of bright new horizons and forbidden fruit. Light on it's feet, vengeful, swift and weird. SO GOOD IT HURTS is The Mekons great epic adventure and is now being re-released on Quarterstick.
