Sabina Meyer is a Swiss-Italian singer with a strong background in different kind of music: traditional Jewish music, the German Lieder tradition of Brecht, Eisler, and Weil, the contemporary vocal experience of Scelsi, Berio and Cage and eventually the free improvisation practice as a means to reshape such a wide vocabulary into an organic new open field. Paul Lovens is one of the fathers of the European free improvised music and one of the main responsible for the transformation and the development of the drums in free music. Swiss reeds player, Hans Koch, is another important name in the European experimental music scene. Among his groups/ collaborations: The historical "Koch, Schutz, Studer trio" and the great "Barry Guy New Orchestra". The music of this new trio, called Moodswing 3, is based on a free and rigorous dialogue between voice, reeds, electronics and percussion. This fine set, recorded at the Goethe Institute in Rome in 2009 and subsequently edited and mixed by master Hans Koch, well captures the trio's organic sound explorations. A perfectly natural flow of evolving shapes, hyper-detailed sound textures and a multitude of differently open rhythmic pulses.
