Pura del Prado was one of Cuba's most illustrious poet laureates who led an emotionally charged, highly controversial life. A native of Santiago, Cuba, Pura Del Prado was an outspoken critic of the dictator Batista and became a folk hero of the common people. Her poetry is highly revered and many classic Cuban songs are based on her poems. This classic album was recorded in 1973 when she was living in exile in Miami, Florida and contains many of her finest poems set to music. All selections newly remastered.
