Williams- Volume 1 (CD)
Llyr Williams begins a new cycle of live concert recordings with Signum, following his acclaimed Beethoven cycle. Schubert's solo piano works chart the development of a composer whose later works, in Llyr Williams words, "cover a range of emotions to rival Beethoven's last sonatas". Beginning near the end, the first album opens with the Sonata No. 20 in A Major and Sechs Moments Musicaux - both published in1828 only a few months before his death. The encore comes from his 3rd Klavierstucke D. 946, popularized by Brahms 40 years later in 1868.
