The Residents- Not Available [Work in Progress] As Prepared By Ralph Records In 1978
Limited 7" vinyl single pressing. In 1978, as The Residents' star ascended, Ralph Records excavated the group's 1974 'X Is For Xtra' tapes and reprocessed them, eager for a new release to satisfy the growing market for product. Whether or not The Residents themselves were involved in this process remains the subject of debate (spoiler: they weren't. Probably), but the end result, 'Not Available', was, and still is, a masterpiece. Along the way, Ralph produced a shortened, work in progress 'demo' of their efforts to present to The Residents (who ignored it). Previously unreleased, that 1978 version is heard here for the first time, just as it rolled off the tapes.
