This recording is a tribute to the memory of my mother, Genia Lushtak, to whom I owe what I am today. She was a wonderful musician and teacher. For the first four years of my piano studies at the Stoliarsky School of Music she would come to every one of my lessons with Mme. Eleonora Levinson, despite her own very busy life with many students to teach. Then she would make sure that I practiced as Mme. Levinson required. Most of the pieces on this disc were taught by my mother to her students. I heard them throughout my childhood. Many are melancholic. They reflect a spectrum of feelings and moods. (Faina Lushtak)
