For many years Al Pierson & His Big Band USA toured the world, playing about 300 engagements a year in the tradition of the great dance bands of the 1940's from Glen Miller and the Dorsey Brothers to the great Guy Lombardo. In 1989 the Lombardo estate granted Pierson the right to be the exclusive licensee of the Lombardo band and to run the orchestra as the Guy Lombardo Orchestra with Al Pierson. Pierson and his own great orchestra have been making records since 1974, carrying on the great dance band tradition. The album presented here, "Requests," originally released in 1977, lives up to that prospect - playing the great dance band hits in the classic style and adding current material (for 1977) such as "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" as well. For lovers of dance music in the classic style of the great dance bands. All selections newly remastered.
