Since the beginning of the 19th century, the Croatian lied has shown an orientation towards international styles. In addition to Croatian poetry, Croatian composers have set to music poems by German, Italian, French, and Czech poets. For this album priority was given to settings of German poetry by a diverse number of Croatian composers in order to acquaint an international audience with the Croatian lied. Natasa Antoniazzo studied singing at Music Academy, University of Zagreb, Croatia. She concluded her studies with a master's degree. She is a laureate of international music competitions and an awardee of prestigious scholarships and grants, among them the dean's prize of the University of Zagreb. Mia Elezovic studied piani with Zvezdana Basic at the Academy of Music, University of Zagreb, where she graduated in 1994 at the age of 19 and in 2001 did a master's thesis. She is a recipient of the dean's prize of the University of Zagreb and received an award by the German Da-Ponte-Stiftung.
