In the summer of 2011 Alexander Schimpf became the first German to win one of the world's most renowned piano competitions: the Cleveland Int'l Piano Competition. Since then, especially on the North American continent but as well in Germany, the doors to all concert halls have been open to him. He follows up his OehmsClassics debut (OC 867) that featured Ravel, Scriabin and Schubert with this release of solo piano works by Brahms (op. 119), Debussy (Images, Bk II) and Beethoven's32nd and last sonata for solo piano in c minor, op.111.
