Fraser/Johnstone/Haas- Legacy Of The Scottish Fiddle, Vol. 2: Music From The Life and LandOf Robert Burns
The 2nd CD in Alasdair Fraser's "Legacy of the Scottish Fiddle" series takes a fresh look at the fiddle tunes that inspired the songs of Scotland's greatest poet, Robert Burns, as well as 18th and 19th Century chamber music from the likes of Haydn, Bruch and Mendelssohn. This trio featuring fiddler Fraser, Scottish pianist Muriel Johnstone and rising-star cellist Natalie Haas recreates tantalizing jigs, sweet airs, soul-stirring marches and rousing reels - the music Burns would have used to flirt, dance, sob and sing. Includes instrumental renditions of "Scot's Wha' Hae," "A Man's a Man for A' That," "My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose," "Green Grow the Rashes O" and others.
