In 2010, JSP Records first released the 4CD set Judy Garland: Lost Tracks 1929-1959, which included the historic 1935 Decca tests as well as countless radio performances here released for the first time. The historic best-seller led to raves, including from The Wall Street Journal, whose Will Friedwald wrote that the set was a "culmination of the hopes and dreams of several generations of fans and collectors," from the website The Second Disc, whose Joe Marchese called it "a landmark," from Playbill's Steven Suskin, who called the release "remarkable," from Gerald Clarke, author of Get Happy, The Life of Judy Garland (Random House, 2000), who called the set "truly amazing," and from John Fricke, author of World's Greatest Entertainer (MJF Books, 1992), who called the release "an extraordinary coup." In 2019, the follow-up to Lost Tracks, Judy Garland: Lost Tracks 2 1936-1967, saw the release of even more "lost tracks" found since 2010. James Fisher, writing in the ARSC Journal, called Lost Tracks 2 "essential." As with the first set, all the tracks came from private collections, including those of John Newton, Rick Smith, and others. The 2020 The Best of Lost Tracks 2 is the best of the 2019 set in a compilation that is both irresistible and memorable. It also includes yet another track, "You Couldn't Be Cuter," a delicious song, with words by Dorothy Fields and music by Jerome Kern, which was discovered after the release of The Best of Lost Tracks 2 and is from the collection of David Plotkin. Under the guidance of Garland historian Lawrence Schulman, who compiled all of these sets, and also provided discographic details and photos, and with audio restorations by John H. Haley, these tracks never sounded better.
