Quadrant Six was the brainchild of keyboardist John Robie (who became the legendary producer Arthur Baker's right-hand man during the early eighties electro boom) and percussionist and vocalist Kenny Simmons who started out as a drummer in local New York City bands as a pre-teen in the early 1970s and became a member of the Commodores backing band shortly after Lionel Ritchie left the group to pursue a solo career. Simmons was later re-discovered by his soon to become life-long friends Emil Innocenti and John Robie, two of the Godfathers and creators of Hip-Hop music. They recorded the dance hit "Body Mechanic," which reached # 3 on the Billboard Dance Charts in 1982 and after being re-released in 1988, it reached the # 7 spot on the same charts six years after it's original release. The supremely talented Miami based dance music collective known as Bass City DJs remix the classic electro track and revive it once again with some old school style rapping to put the icing on the cake. The new single features 3 exclusive remixes for this special release.
