A supremely talented jazz and R&B guitarist and vocalist, Riff Ruffin was a prominent figure on the West Coast scene, predominantly in the 1950s and 1960s.. Ruffin first recorded for the Spark label in Los Angeles, California, in 1955. Sessions followed for a number of West Coast companies 1955-1957, with sessions for Fire in New York in 1959 and Duke in 1965. In 1955 he recorded the excellent single "Money For My Honey" b/w "The Darkest Hour" for the southern California based Mambo label. The "A" side rocks along nicely, fueled by tenor sax and Riff's rockin' guitar and assertive vocals. The "B" side is a straight up sultry blues tune, complete with pleading sax, rollicking piano and Riff's great vocal and guitar work. This ultra rare gem is presented here newly remastered and finally made available in the digital domain.
