This Ondine release includes two major works from one of today's most interesting composers, Erkki-Sven Tu"u"r (b. 1959). Symphony No. 5, one of very few works where Western classical music is successfully combined with elements from jazz and rock, features the well-known, award-winning French jazz guitarist Nguye^n Le^. Accordionist Mika Va"yrynen, a pioneer in contemporary accordion music, is the soloist in the composer's concerto for accordion and orchestra, Prophecy, a work he also premiered. The Helsinki Philharmonic is led by Olari Elts, making his Ondine recording debut.
